SYNOPSIS:

A young artist, AGUSTIN, is deep into renovating his childhood home, now a deserted, lifeless house. Drowning in emptiness, he struggles to overcome a lack of purpose and inspiration. He talks with his older sister, EMI, seeking direction, but she expresses he just needs to meet a girl and settle down. 

 

Agustin walks through town to clear his head, but he’s supernaturally drawn to an abandoned alleyway. Unnoticed by Agustin, an older man, INDIVIDUAL #4, sees Agustin’s mysterious encounter and watches him rush back home out of fear. 

 

After Agustin meets a beautiful young woman, NAAVA, #4 uses her name to trick Agustin into meeting him. He tells him their world is not what it seems, they’re different from everyone else, and he recognizes Agustin feels something is missing…

“But you can’t even comprehend what’s missing, not till you drink the truth.”

He reveals down the alleyway is a “well of truth” and slides a small glass vial of oil to Agustin across the table. That night, despite his uncertainty, the oil lures him in for a small taste. 

 

Agustin wakes flooded with inspiration, but strange encounters follow. Later, he meets #4 in a dim motel room, where he reveals an unfinished device, something he was inspired to create after consuming the oil. He explains it could be the key to uncovering the location of “the creator” of their existence, thus revealing “what’s missing.”

 

Agustin gets sidetracked from these wild theories after coming into contact again with Naava, but he’s quickly pulled back in after discovering #4 has killed himself and the device is now finished. Agustin tests the device himself, but he notices nothing except a hazy pulsing light. After venturing out into a large grass field, however, he discovers an indestructible, unending white wall.  He is imprisoned within his “created” world.

 

Soon-after, Emi comes over unannounced to see Agustin’s progress with the house, but she finds projects unfinished and his attention elsewhere. He tries to explain his revelation, but he begins to question if she’s involved with “the creator’s” inner workings. Emotions run high, and she storms out, leaving questions unanswered. 

 

Eager to understand, Agustin heads straight to the source, the alleyway. He desperately consumes and creates with the oil, sculpting it into clay, but it causes him to become ill before he’s able to finish.

 

In his weak state, he visits a drugstore. Naava enters in the distance, but when he approaches her, a large white wall appears, cutting him off from reaching her. Things snap back to normal and Naava is able to calm him down. When they embrace, however, her eyes turn pitch black, proving she is not who she seems to be on the surface. When Agustin questions her, Naava only backs away speechless and drives off down the dark road. 

 

Able to trust no one, he proclaims to the sky, “What do you want from me?!” He rushes to the device, turning it on and smashing it, thus trapping him forever in the world that’s been created for him. Stuck with no way out, he finishes his own creation. Supernaturally, the solid wall becomes hollow, and he smashes through to the other side.

 

He enters a large white room with a familiar hazy pulsing light. Finally, he’s in the presence of “the creator,” able to comprehend his reason for existence—no matter how terrifying the truth may be.
